Confucian Temple

The City Government has chosen the north shore of the Lotus Lake in Zuoying, now No. 400 Liantan Road, Zuoying District, as the site for the new Confiucian Temple.

Yuanheng Buddhist Temple

The Yuanheng Buddhist Temple is located in Gushan District at the foot of Shoushan . According to the Chronicle of Kaohsiung City , the Temple was built in1743 C.E by Master Jingyuan from Jhangjhou, Fujian Province

Former British Consulate at Dagou

Among the contemporary western-style buildings that still exist in Taiwan, the Former British Consulate at Dagou is the oldest. Built between approximately 1864 to 1866, it is reputedly the earliest western building in Taiwan

Cijin Tien Hou Temple

Cijin Tien Hou Temple is the oldest temple in the history of Kaohsiung City, tracing back to 1673 during the reign of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty.

Syongjhen North Gate

The name “Syongjhen North Gate” is wriiten in the door inscription of the Shaochuan Fort. The small battery was built under the supervision of military officer Tang Ding-kuei and his second-in-command Wang Fu-lu in 1875.

Cihou Church

The architecture is built with concrete, the most popular style during the Japanese Colonial Period. The exterior is similar to that of a small Roman church, the outer wall built with amber-colored washed pebble. The atmosphere is serene and peaceful.

Cihou Fort

Cihou Mountain guards the entrance of Kaohsiung Port and therefore possesses strategic signficance. In order to defend against attacks from the sea, a battery was built in 1875.

 
Cihou Lighthouse

Dagao Port was established as commercial port in the Qing Dynasty. For the heavy traffic of the port, British enginners were hired in 1883 to build a lighthouse to guide the ships. The lighthouse was originally square-formed, built from brick.

Kaohsiung Rose Basilica

With features such as a Gothic tower, stained glass, rose windows and arches, visitors always feel reluctant to leave this beautiful cathedral.
