When talking about Kaohsiung’s gourmet food, the band MayDay loves the Narrow-barred Spanish Mackerel Thick Soup and A-po Ice sold in the Yancheng area. They are Masa’s favorite. The deep fried Mackerel is crunchy and tasty. Served with a thick soup and spice, it is the delicacy in southern Taiwan rarely found in Taipei.

MayDayA-po ice is also a popular snack, attracting endless customers. It is nice to order a plate of colorful “A-po Special Ice”. The crunchy “lover’s fruit” (green mango) tastes sweet and sour. In addition, pineapple and many other kinds of fruits served are preserved in the traditional method. With purple sour plum dressing on the top, this delicacy brings you the taste of a real traditional snack. As food lovers, we highly recommend the star fruit juice sold at Zuoying. Prepared in the traditional method, it gives you the mellow and pure taste of the fruit. Insisted on making in the traditional method, it brings you the old-fashioned taste unique to this area.

The famous seafood at Cijin is MayDay’s first choice. When you visit Cijin, you can see people holding roast squids in their hands, tasting them. It has already become a spectacular scene there. Fish LeongComing from Malaysia, when Fish Leong finishes her work in Kaohsiung, she goes to Liouhe Night Market to enjoy the gourmet food there. She tastes almost everything, from the eel noodles and fried spareribs at the entrance of the street, to the mullet roe served at the end of the road. Stall after stall, she tastes all the snacks until her tummy is full.

Her favorite is shrimp, steam-bathed in salt. Coldwater shrimps, with eggs in their bellies, are sweet, with the aroma of pepper salt. It drives you hungry just imagining it. The perfect set meal: winter melon and fried spareribs soup is the best during the winter. The tasty eel noodles are nice too. The fresh and juicy eel meat is pure and fragrant, and the chewy Yi noodles are simply the best. Served with a thick soup, it is quite delicious. After the meal, a glass of papayas milk is perfect. In the Liouhe Night Market, all the best gourmet snacks in Kaohsiung can be found. She eats until she is full.
