Introduction
Shoushan, also known as Chaishan and Dagoushan, is 365m above sea level and it's western side looks down on the Taiwan Strait. The whole park is six kilometers long, extending from Gushan District. Its unique limestone crag formations and coral reef vegetation bear traces of its precious history. Simultaneously, it also shelters many kinds of precious wild animal, insect, bird, reptile and an astounding variety of snails; of course, there is also the famous Formosan Macaque. An untouched natural and cultural treasure-house, Chaishan's old settlements stand by the sea, where people have burned wood for charcoal and fished since ancient times, and were also a place where bands of pirates gathered in the Ming and Qing dynasties. More recently, Chaishan has become a place for the public to explore paradise, marked out by its natural ecology and its own heavenly atmosphere.
