Cishan (Qishan) Mazu Temple

Update:2021-01-27
6449
Introduction
In order to pray for peace and spiritual safekeeping, our forerunners invited Mazu to come from Meizhou in China in 1700 AD. Tianhou Temple is the only extant Qing-era temple in the Cishan (Qishan) area, and furthermore, it is an important religious center for the people of Cishan. Owing to the billowing incense smoke, the statue of Matsu has long since been stained to a shiny black. The stone statues within the temple are simple and refined, and there is an abundance of beautiful wooden carvings, and bronze sculpture, making this an unmissable place to visit for both travelers and those investigating the history of Cishan.
