Introduction
Inaugurated in 2015, the Meinong Cultural and Creative Center is the township government’s much-prided work.

Located on the historical Yongan Old Street and adorned with verdant autumn maple trees, the center was a deserted colonial compound before refurbishment. Such includes the former Meinong Police Station completed in 1902, which is a Baroque building with an oriental flavor, presently serving as a multi-functional visitor center. A nearby gem is the Japanese police dorm, now used as a young children’s center. The education, art and culture hall was constructed only recently, housing a large number of books and videos, especially those about Liudui and Hakka culture. A wide range of events, such as open-air theater, music concerts and Hakka markets, are held on the Kaizhuang Square that connects the old police station, the police dorm and the hall. There will be resident artists soon – their mission is to pass down and spread Hakka culture.
