A Work of Nature – the R23 Ciaotou Station

Introduction

In accordance with the KMRT's focus on “using art and the world to make friends”, KMRT Ciaotou Station Exit No. 2 invited the Meinong artist Dr. Zhu Bang-Xiong to create the ceramic walls which decorate the station. This massive item of ceramic art is nine meters wide and 20 meters tall, and is called A Work of Nature. This piece of art is composed of 1311 ceramic boards, consumed over 70 tonnes of clay, and the geometric shapes through the centre are an abstract representation of city construction.
