Luodi Mountain (Tardy Hill) is a unique badland formation near the sea in Kaohsiung, and also a highland, rare in the area. It has been an important military area since the Japanese Colonial Era. As the mudstone is prone to landslides caused by rainwater, the terrain's surface is rugged and dangerous, and plants grow sparsely. The resultant exposed rock and canyons create a desolate yet unique landscape. It has recently been made into a nature park, with many natural hiking trails through which travellers can walk through the badlands; following the plank roads allows one to see the badlands from different angles.
