Observe animals and their habitats in a friendly manner.
By planting and softening the boundaries, Shoushan Zoo set up an aerial corridor to shuttle through the habitats of animals. The mesh fences that rise on both sides allow tourists to hide and observe the interaction of animals from a high altitude. Entering the two towering mountain houses erected on the empty bridge and the four animal observation corridors hanging under the bridge, visitors can see through the large area of floor-to-ceiling glass, which is close to their native habitat environment. Seeing capybaras leisurely soaking in the water, lions lazily basking in the sun, or Formosan black bears freely rubbing against tree trunks to scratch an itchy part, the adorable and authentic appearance of various animals makes people feel like they have stepped into their homes and have their living spaces multiple experiences.
After the renovation, Shoushan Zoo, which blends with nature, has become a harmonious place to visit. The zoo has improved the circulation and roads in the park and provided a small train to take you around the zoo. They set up interesting videos and explanation boards along the tour route so that children and adults can have a deeper understanding of the habits of animals. The water-friendly square has been transformed into a super fun fountain, like the mist from the chimney, so that children can have a water fight in the fabulous pool. They have also renovated the old animal house, opened part of the roof to bring in sunlight and rainwater, improved the animal house's ventilation, cleaning, and drainage functions, and created a comfortable living space for animals.
Shoushan Zoo has introduced capybaras and mixed them with various herbivorous animals such as alpacas and mini donkeys. Tourists can enjoy the habitat behavior of animals from top to bottom or walk down to the exhibition hall to observe up close from a horizontal angle, watching how they eat, sleep, and play in the water at their homes.
The animal stars at Shoushan Zoo are all treasures of Kaohsiung. There is the Formosan black bear, Poppy, the orangutan couple A-hong and Mimi, the handsome white tiger Zhaohai, and the senior African elephant Ali. You can also see the cute meerkat family, whose every move melts the hearts of visitors.
