Introduction
The Gangshan 228 Memorial Park was the first park in Taiwan built to commemorate the 228 Incident. The park contains a two stories high monument in the shape of a peace dove. Made up of 5 sculptures of doves, it represents the shared body of Taiwan’s five major ethnic groups, expressing righteousness and peace. A memorial activity is held each year. Covered in green grass, the park is large yet quiet and welcoming, perfect for enjoying a leisurely, carefree afternoon.
