Jinshi Lake Scenic Area receives landscaping award

Post date:2017-05-04
For its Jinshi Lake Scenic Area Landscaping Project, Kaohsiung Tourism Bureau recently received the 2017 Architecture & Landscaping Award in public architecture and landscaping.
In the southern park of Jinshi Lake, the old parking lot was adapted into a vast manmade prairie which helps to keep floods away. Accessible sidewalks are built and natural rocks are used to hold soil. Public toilets, including accessible toilets, have been renovated and now they are equipped with new facilities. Children’s spots amenities are also installed, for children and parents can have fun together. The park’s tall trees are still grown, and now they have new friends such as golden rain trees, royal poinciana, Kassod trees, China berry and a variety of blooming grass plants which make the site more colorful.
The new lakeside hiking path turns this neighborhood park, once occupied by ordinary pot plants, into a bright and beautiful space. Along the path and the waterfront area are shrubs and arbor trees such as pink shower trees, powder-puff trees, bald cypress and ginger lily. Together these plants make the park prettier and create a great living environment for water birds. All visitors are cordially invited to take a stroll in the greenness.
The Jinshi and Chengching Lakes Cycling Path of the Greater Kaohsiung Cycling Network takes visitors from Chengching Lake, Baguapi, Jioufanpi, Shzilinpi to Jinshi Lake Scenic Area where visitors can enjoy some shades under the trees.
Kaohsiung Tourism Bureau Director Tseng Tsi-wen said that renovation work of the lake area, especially the lakeside path, is 100% complete. She welcomed the people of Kaohsiung to take a family trip, enjoy a picnic, or take a walk there. A butterfly garden will also open by July 2017. Visitors can expect to appreciate butterflies there by then.
