Today, four China Airline flights travel between Manila and Kaohsiung weekly, and one-way trip only takes 1 hour and 40 minutes. What’s more, Philippine visitors do not need a tourist visa to enter Taiwan, making it especially easy for them to come to Kaohsiung.
The Kaohsiung Tourism Bureau already invited travel agencies in the Philippines to explore the city at the end of last year. This year, the bureau keeps promoting Kaohsiung’s tourism in the “southbound” markets, and this, again, includes the Philippines. The bureau touts that travel in Kaohsiung is “convenient, inexpensive and of high quality,” and plans to invite more Southeast Asian agents to learn about Kaohsiung by taking “pilot tours” first.
