Tour Charming Kaohsiung! Starting from October, ride with the Wind along the Five Major Routes
Ride on the Bike and Tour in Nature and around the Ancient City of Kaohsiung! The tourism Bureau, Kaohsiung City Government hosted the cycling tour press conference, “2020 Charming Kaohsiung – Ride Along with the Wind,” on October 5th at the Fengshan Administration Center to promote itineraries to cycle in Kaohsiung in October. The tourism event integrates local culture, history, and delicacies. “SATO Iku”, the well-known illustrator and YouTuber, was also invited to promote the cycling tour in Kaohsiung.
Ms. Ling-Wen Chou, the Tourism Bureau Director, suggested that with the rise of environmental awareness and readily availability of the public bike system, YouBike, as well as e-scooters in recent years, these means of transportation have made it convenient for visitors to cycle and explore the streets and alleys of Kaohsiung. The bike tour promotion activities this year include an in-depth tour in small groups and a large-scale biking event for up to a hundred participants. The available quota of the event was all signed up in seconds. In response to the overwhelming participation of the public, Director Chou has decided to increase the capacity limit on the Jiading bike tour. The biking activities combine food tours where stores from “the Traditional Taste of Kaohsiung” and “East Kaohsiung Slow Food Tours” are included in the itineraries; local performing arts groups will also give performances for the event, making it suitable for family trips in the post-pandemic period.
During the press conference today, the local Nan-Yi Musical Theatre in Fengshan gave an opening performance of folk songs using viola and violin to announce the “Art Bike Tour to Fengshan City Museum” event. The “Art Bike Tour to Fengshan City Museum” event will be held on October 31st and includes unique activities, such as music performances, tourist attraction guide, and metal art DIY. In the cycling tour, visitors will immerse themselves in the century-old city and explore every corner of Fengshan on the bike. Japanese cyclist “Japanese Ojisan” and cycling YouTubers were invited to introduce the four in-depth tours in Meinong, Zuoying, Gangshan, and Jiading, respectively, as well as unique characteristics of the cycling route of the Fengshan biking event with more than one hundred participants. In addition, “Long Life” from Meinong, “Cheer Bean Sauce” from Gangshan, “Joy Well Bakery” from Zuoying, “Sampan Association” from Jiading, and “Soho Workshop” from Fengshan were invited to showcase the souvenirs prepared for the cycling events. By participating in the “Charming Kaohsiung – Ride Along with the Wind” event, not only do you bring back fun memories, but also characteristic souvenirs, maximizing your gains from the trip.
The Tourism Bureau suggested that to continually promote the cycling tour, it will work with tourism platforms in each region and integrate their itineraries or activities in the tour. The tourism platforms include Makatao Tour Guide and Interpreter Association that promotes low carbon tours in Zuoying, Shishan Community Development Association that offers tunnel water slides in Meinong, Yanchao District Jinshan Community Development Association that focuses on landscape ecology, Fengshan City Cultural Volunteer Association that assists with the work in Fengshan City Museum, as well as Kaohsiung City Jiading Sampan Association. In the future, the Tourism Bureau will continue to work with tourism platforms in each region to promote and develop unique and regular tour packages, and lead visitors to get an in-depth look at various faces of Kaohsiung.
The registration for each session of the cycling event has already begun.
