Located in the Taoyuan District of Kaohsiung City, the beautiful Tengjhih National Forest Recreation Area is also known as the "Little Chitou" of southern Taiwan. Since the heavy damages to the access roads caused by the August 8 typhoon in 2009, the park has been closed. After 12 years of waiting, good news has finally arrived. The Pingtung Forest District Office is expecting to reopen the park on May 7th. The number of visitors will be limited to 500 people per day regardless of weekdays or holidays.
Director Chou Ling-Wen of the Tourism Bureau said that right after signing a memorandum of cooperation with the Pingtung Forest District Office on April 9th, she is very happy to immediately collaborate with the media and travel industry to line up FAM trips. Although the weather is not being cooperative today, the fog enshrouding the forest recreation area is very beautiful. On May 7th, the Forest District Office will also hold three consecutive days of events to celebrate the opening of the park, and the public is welcome to participate. The opening of the forest recreation area is expected to bring 180,000 tourists into Kaohsiung's domestic travel market within a year, and it will be a new eco-tourism indicator for southern Taiwan.

The Tengjhih National Forest Recreation Area is adopting a system of "adapted operations and visitor reservation" for park entry. Online reservation can be made from noon 15 days in advance of visiting the park. Currently, reservations are being instantaneously snapped up the minute the system opens, indicating the persistent popularity of the Tengjhih National Forest Recreation Area. Independent tourists can log in to the Tengjhih National Forest Recreation Area Visitor Admission Reservation System to register. Tourists participating in paid guided bus tours can log in to the Kaohsiung Liu-Gui Tourism Association Reservation System to register.
