Kaohsiung Shoushan Zoo announces the good news of the arrival of 11 South American coati babies. The newborn coatis are nearly 2 weeks old now and under the meticulous care of their 2 mothers. The zoo releases real-time images showing the precious moments of the mothers taking care of their babies for the first time, in line with the measures of anti-pandemic life, enabling the public to congratulate the mother coatis online.

Shoushan Zoo’s South American coati family used to consist of one male (Wude) and three females (Zhizhi, Mali and Xiaogan). Since their arrival at the zoo in May last year, they have interacted intimately with each other in the spacious living environment and displayed natural and interesting behavior that has attracted the attention of both adults and children. In the end of May of this year, Zhizhi and Mali gave birth to 6 and 5 baby coatis, respectively, and have been taking great care of their babies. The zoo specially prepares live broadcasts showing the precious moments of the mothers taking care of their babies, in the hope that their adorable interaction can lift the spirit of the public who can only stay home during the pandemic.

According to Chou Ling-wen, the Director-General of the Tourism Bureau of Kaohsiung City Government, to encourage the public to comply with the pandemic prevention policy during the pandemic and not leave home unless necessary, citizens can enjoy the live broadcast of the zoo at home to lessen their mental stress and anxiety. During the closure of the zoo, there will be live broadcasts of the zoo, enabling the public to obtain the latest news of the animals from a perspective different from that of their usual visits. Do enjoy these heartwarming and fun real-time images together with your family while staying home during the pandemic.

The information on Shoushan Zoo’s live broadcast will be updated on the zoo’s fan page from time to time, so do like and follow Shoushan Zoo’s FaceBook Page for the latest news!
