Good news comes in succession! Recently, the Kaohsiung City Government's Tourism Bureau's "2021 Lotus Pond Scenic Area Revitalization Project" not only received the 2023 Yuan Ye Award but also earned the prestigious FIABCI-Taiwan Real Estate Excellence Award in the Best Construction Quality category. Director Kao Min-lin explained that creating a tourist-friendly environment is the Bureau's primary goal and thanked the judges for their recognition, making the revitalized scenic area a new landmark and popular photo hotspot for visitors.

The “2021 Lotus Pond Scenic Area Revitalization Project” incorporated the design principles of “reduction” and “local elements integration.” This approach has allowed the creation of an accessible pathway along the entire Pan Yue Bridge, offering a close-up view of the Confucius Temple and the enchanting “Pan Yue Lake Reflection” scenery. Furthermore, a former management office of the Irrigation Agency has been transformed into the “PAMMA Coffee,” designed as a white glass house. It showcases scenic features such as waterfalls and aquatic plant ponds within the Lotus Pond, creating a variety of waterbody landscapes. This year, the Kaohsiung Lantern Festival was relocated from the Love River to Lotus Pond in Zuoying, integrating waterfront landscapes and culture. It attracted approximately two million visitors, allowing everyone to see a different side of Lotus Pond.

The “2021 Shoushan Scenic Area Tourism Revitalization Project” primarily focused on the Shoushan Zoo parking area, pedestrian routes, and optimization of barrier-free accessibility. The renovated Shoushan Zoo opened in December of last year and has since attracted around 800 thousand visitors. As a result, improving the route to the Zoo has become a key aspect of this project. To provide visitors with plenty of interactive fun, not only the railings along the route are presented in zebra stripes, but there are also numerous photo spots and amusing animal-themed installations along the way.

The Tourism Bureau stated that the environmental development of the scenic areas will continue to improve in the future to provide a friendlier and more comfortable travel environment for the public. The Tourism Bureau is aiming to create distinctive highlights for Kaohsiung's scenic areas, ensuring that every visit to Kaohsiung offers a unique and delightful experience for all!
