Kaohsiung tourism brings more good news as it ranks first in national tourism satisfaction! Kaohsiung was recently rated "excellent" in the "National Accommodation Industry Management Performance Evaluation" and was announced by the international booking platform Agoda as the only Taiwanese city to be listed among Asia's most fun and economical cities. Global Views Monthly magazine also announced that Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chi-Mai won five stars in the "County and City Governance Satisfaction Survey," with Kaohsiung's tourism satisfaction being the highest in Taiwan! Tourism Bureau Director Kao Min-Lin stated that they are actively promoting Kaohsiung tourism, not only organizing large-scale events like the Yellow Duck and promoting concerts but also successfully guiding the accommodation industry. This time, 15 hotels in Kaohsiung passed the star rating evaluation, bringing the total in Kaohsiung City to 41, the highest among the six special municipalities. On the 19th, a "Kaohsiung City Hotel Star Rating Certification Ceremony" was held to recognize the accommodation industry's efforts to improve service quality and to encourage the tourism industry to work together to continuously enhance Kaohsiung's tourism environment and make Kaohsiung the top choice for Asian travel!
The director stated, "We are working hard to make Kaohsiung the best travel destination in the country, collaborating with the tourism industry to actively create the best tourism environment and travel quality!" Kaohsiung's tourism favorability and satisfaction ratings ranked first among the six special municipalities twice last year. This year, Kaohsiung's concert economy continues to thrive, with the Kaohsiung Lantern Festival's Yellow Duck attracting over 9 million visitors and conservatively estimating to create over 14 billion NTD in tourism value. The recent announcement of Kaohsiung's mayor winning five stars, followed by the news of having the highest number of star-rated hotels among the six special municipalities, shows that Kaohsiung's tourism is not to be underestimated. The director stated that to make Kaohsiung the best tourism city in the country, they are actively helping the industry improve service quality and establish their own brand image. For the accommodation industry, they are promoting a star-rated hotel evaluation and guidance plan. In addition to arranging experts and scholars to provide guidance to hotels, they also use mystery shoppers to actually stay in the hotels, evaluating from a traveler's perspective and simulating star-rating review standards to examine whether the hotel's hardware facilities and services are in place. The director explained that service processes and quality in areas such as reservations, front desk reception, dining, housekeeping, and telephone etiquette are all included in the evaluation and active guidance. Through this plan, they can effectively improve the overall service quality of Kaohsiung's accommodation industry, promote Kaohsiung's brand shaping, align with international standards, and urge operators to self-examine and strengthen the credibility of star ratings. This makes consumers more willing to choose star-rated hotels, creating a win-win situation for consumers and operators, and fostering a good tourism environment, excellent travel experience, and positive city image for Kaohsiung.
The Tourism Bureau pointed out that 15 hotels passed the star-rated hotel evaluation through this guidance plan. Basic evaluation items include cleanliness, safety, and hygiene. For four-star and above ratings, additional hardware facilities such as banquets, conference rooms, and leisure facilities, as well as higher quality services, are included. In this guidance plan, hotels rated as five-star include E-Da Royal Hotel, TAI Urban Resort, and Howard Plaza Hotel Kaohsiung, totaling 3. Four-star hotels include Fullon Hotel Kaohsiung and Chateau de Chine Hotel Kaohsiung, totaling 2. Three-star to one-star hotels include Kaohsiung Ahotel, The Harbour Siziwan II, Hotel MENIPPE, Nest Hotel, SA-YO Hotel, San Hua Hotel, Paris Hotel, Nice Hotel, Single Inn Kaohsiung Station, and Sunwise Hotel, totaling 10. Manager Chen Qing-Ru of Howard Plaza Hotel Kaohsiung, which received a five-star rating, expressed gratitude to the Tourism Bureau for organizing the star-rated hotel guidance plan, helping the hotel understand the latest evaluation standards and scoring items, and ultimately successfully obtaining the five-star rating recognition. Vice President Lee Huan-Yu of the five-star TAI Urban Resort stated that the hotel made great efforts to pass the new hotel star rating system. Service itself is the most important spirit of the hotel brand and an important factor for sustainable operation of the brand. Manager Chen Chih-Yang of the three-star The Harbour stated that the star rating is a guarantee of quality standards for hotel operators. Obtaining a star rating not only gives consumers more confidence in hotel quality but also allows travelers to feel more at ease during their stay. Manager Hong You-Qi of Sunwise Hotel said that the courses organized by the Kaohsiung City Government this time allowed them, as first-time participants in the star rating, to take care of everything from small details to service quality for travelers. It has greatly improved the hotel, and the Kaohsiung City Government is really dedicated!
In addition, this year's plan introduced the "International Service Quality Certification" for the first time. Apart from the above-mentioned hotels, Han-Hsien International Hotel, The Harbour Station, and Merry Seasons Motel also passed, totaling 17. The International Service Quality Certification primarily considers customer needs, providing immediate feedback to customers from aspects such as "spatial environment," "service process," and "personnel service quality," thereby increasing satisfaction and loyalty. Chairman Chi Yu-Lien of Merry Seasons Motel stated that the Tourism Bureau's courses related to improving service quality in the accommodation industry provide operators with a good learning direction. All the details of operational management aspects are listed very clearly in this guidance and evaluation plan, allowing operators to comprehensively review whether their hotels meet ideal standards.

The Tourism Bureau added that in 2023, they successively organized accommodation guidance plans including a series of courses such as Muslim certification, eco-friendly accommodations, and the nation's first gender-friendly accommodations, as well as the star-rated hotel evaluation guidance plan. In addition to many accommodation operators actively signing up for various themed guidance courses, the Tourism Bureau is committed to promoting exchange and connection in Kaohsiung's tourism industry. Many operators who participated in the guidance plan successfully obtained honors such as the "Star-Rated Hotel Evaluation" label and "International Service Quality Certification."
To promote the accommodation industry's alignment with international standards and sustainable development, this year they planned the "2024 Kaohsiung Sustainable Tourism Power" series of courses. Starting from March, there are a total of 8 sessions with 12 themed courses, inviting scholars, experts, and industry professionals to share trends in the tourism market and new knowledge and practical experiences in hotel and accommodation marketing management. The courses were fully booked and highly praised. In the future, the Tourism Bureau will continue to enhance Kaohsiung's soft power in tourism, striving to make Kaohsiung the top choice for domestic and international travel.
