The concert economy boom in Kaohsiung continues unabated! Following the excitement generated by Bruno Mars and the Energy boy band in early September, which attracted over 100,000 fans, the Japanese rock sensation "ONE OK ROCK" is set to take the stage this weekend, extending the music frenzy. These concerts have brought in a large influx of tourists, increasing Kaohsiung's hotel occupancy rate by over 20%, with some hotels nearing full capacity. Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chi-Mai stated that the city government has partnered with 86 hotels to offer "extended stay" promotions and integrated tourism resources to amplify the concert effect and create more business opportunities. Fans can enjoy Kaohsiung's warm hospitality by presenting their concert ticket stubs.

Kao Min-Lin, Director of the Tourism Bureau of Kaohsiung City Government, pointed out that Kaohsiung has hosted numerous concerts this year, with 108 events held by early September, attracting over 1.18 million attendees and generating over 3.9 billion TWD in tourism revenue. Before the year's end, there will be more than 20 additional major concerts featuring acts like the Korean group "STRAY KIDS," the British band "Take That," and "Charlie Puth." It's projected that throughout 2024, Kaohsiung will attract over 1.44 million visitors, generating more than 4.8 billion TWD in tourism revenue. During concert periods, hotel occupancy rates exceed 80-90%, with some hotels nearing full capacity, driving growth in Kaohsiung's hotel industry by over 20%. This demonstrates the effectiveness of concerts in boosting domestic tourism in Kaohsiung.

The Tourism Bureau of Kaohsiung City Government stated that to promote the concert economy, the city government has integrated cross-departmental resources to launch promotional packages like "Extended Dining and Stay," covering accommodations and attractions. Among these, 86 accommodation providers offer discounts up to 70% off for the day before and after the concert when presenting a concert ticket stub. The Royal Group, comprising 15 hotels, is enthusiastically participating. For example, Royal Group Hotel Xiong Zhong Branch offers rooms starting from 1,000 TWD on weekdays and 1,600 TWD on weekends for the day before and after concerts. E-Da Royal Hotel offers up to 70% off on select packages, while Howard Plaza Hotel Kaohsiung and Fullon Hotel offer room rates up to 50% off. Other participating businesses include four hotels, namely, Just Sleep, Hotel Cozzi Zhongshan Kaohsiung, Chateau de Chine Hotel, and Kindness Hotel Hanshin, offering various discounts and value-added promotions, allowing fans to easily enjoy Kaohsiung's diverse accommodation options.

Major scenic spots, cultural venues, and exhibitions in the city also offer multiple consumer benefits with concert ticket stubs. For instance, attractions like the "White Lover Container House," "Gondola Boat" and "Love River Walk" by the Love River, "Estrella del Mar," "Cijin Luxury Camping Area," "Lotus Wake Park," "Siaogangshan Skywalk Park," "Baolaihuashang Hot Springs Park" in Cijin and Shoushan Zoo offer various discounts. The zoo provides free admission with a Kaohsiung concert ticket stub, and restaurants in the park offer buy-one-get-one-free deals on select drinks and food discounts, allowing visitors to enjoy both cuisine and animal companionship.

Liu Kun-Fu, the leader of the Kaohsiung Tourism Union and Honorary Chairman of the Kaohsiung Tourism Association, stated that this year, benefiting from over a hundred concerts held in Kaohsiung, the city's tourism industry, including travel agencies, accommodation providers, and souvenir shops, has seen growth in sales. He strongly supports the city government's efforts to attract concert-goers and couple it with dining, lodging, sightseeing, and shopping promotions, which greatly help increase exposure and business opportunities for local establishments.

The Tourism Bureau added that the Kaohsiung Travel website has set up a special "Concert Economy Zone," featuring numerous promotional offers for extended dining, lodging, attractions, and department stores, catering comprehensively to the needs of fans coming to Kaohsiung for concerts. By connecting city government and industry resources, the initiative aims to encourage fans to stay in Kaohsiung and boost local consumption, creating economic benefits that will further encourage more famous singers and artists to hold concerts in Kaohsiung. The goal is to add brilliant musical starlight to Kaohsiung's night sky. For more details on these promotions, visit the "Concert Economy Zone" on the Kaohsiung Travel Website.
