In reply to media reports about a fan page questioning Kaohsiung's tourism performance, the Tourism Bureau of Kaohsiung City Government firmly stated that tourism strength should be comprehensively assessed through multiple metrics including operating revenue, occupancy rates, and visitor demographics. According to the latest statistics of Tourism Administration, MOTC, Kaohsiung City achieved comprehensive growth across multiple tourism indicators from January to June 2025, with occupancy rates, foreign visitor numbers, operating revenue, and accommodation revenue growth all ranking "first among the six special municipalities," demonstrating Kaohsiung's successful "concert economy" initiative that effectively converts crowds into tourism value and city revenue.

The Tourism Bureau of Kaohsiung City Government noted that from January to June this year, Kaohsiung City's occupancy rate rose 3.93% compared to the same period last year—the highest growth among the six special municipalities. Total overnight stays increased by approximately 214 thousand year-over-year, with domestic visitors up 138 thousand and foreign visitors up 76 thousand. The 11.62% increase in foreign visitors also ranked first among the six special municipalities, indicating sustained rising interest in Kaohsiung tourism from both domestic and international travelers.

Regarding tourism revenue, according to the hotel industry operating reports of Tourism Administration, MOTC, Kaohsiung City's hotel industry generated NT$8.94 billion in total operating revenue from January to June this year—an increase of NT$705 million or 8.57% year-over-year, ranking first among the six special municipalities. Within this figure, accommodation revenue increased NT$532 million, growing 10.67%—also first among the six special municipalities.

From January 1 through October 20 this year, renowned domestic and international artists including Kylie Minogue, SUPER JUNIOR-D&E, Maroon 5, RAIN, Sunset Rollercoaster, Mixer, Accusefive, Jacky Cheung, Stefanie Sun, Eason Chan, Jody Chiang, and BLACKPINK held over 90 concerts in Kaohsiung, drawing nearly 1.12 million attendees and generating over NT$3.3 billion in tourism revenue.

Kaohsiung's concert economy and massive event attendance have stimulated tourism business opportunities and converted them into tangible economic vitality, demonstrating highly successful city marketing and tourism strategies. The "concert economy" has driven comprehensive advancement of tourism metrics, with occupancy rates, foreign visitor numbers, operating revenue, and accommodation revenue growth all leading the six special municipalities, fully demonstrating Kaohsiung's tourism industry's substantial achievements and continuously rising momentum.
