The southern Taiwan skyline has added a new force, "Thai" happy! AirAsia, the leading low-cost airline brand in Asia, announced today (2) the official inaugural flight of the "Kaohsiung-Bangkok" route, providing four flights per week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday) service, greatly enhancing the convenience of tourism, business, and travel industry for the people of southern Taiwan. Min-Lin Kao, Director of theTourism Bureau of Kaohsiung City Government, together with Santisuk Klongchaiya, CEO of AirAsia, and Sarima Chindamat, Director of Taipei Tourism Authority of Thailand, held an inaugural ceremony at Kaohsiung International Airport and jointly welcomed the arrival of AirAsia's direct flight from Bangkok to Kaohsiung, flight number FD-234, at Kaohsiung International Airport. Director Min-Lin Kao also brought Kaohsiung Bear, the tourism ambassador of Kaohsiung, to present exquisite Kaohsiung souvenirs to the fully loaded Thai tourists on the inaugural flight, allowing Thai tourists to feel the enthusiasm and friendliness of Kaohsiung as soon as they arrived in Taiwan and got off the plane.

Director Min-Lin Kao pointed out that the exchange between Taiwan and Thailand is very close, and Thailand is also a very important tourism market for Kaohsiung. At the end of October last year, she specially led representatives of Kaohsiung's major tourism associations and industries to Bangkok, Thailand to hold tourism promotion activities and visit many heavyweight official organizations and local tourism industry, which caused enthusiastic response from local operators. During the trip to Thailand, the Thai government announced that starting from November 10 last year, Taiwanese tourists are exempt from visa requirements, further accelerating the in-depth exchanges between Kaohsiung and Bangkok in the fields of tourism, smart cities, food culture, festival activities, and religious beliefs. Min-Lin Kao said that with AirAsia's new "Kaohsiung-Bangkok" route with four flights per week, it will be able to bring more Thai tourists to enter Taiwan from Kaohsiung and tour around, experiencing this diverse, open, enthusiastic and friendly city, as well as injecting new international capacity into Kaohsiung's tourism industry and expanding new southbound business opportunities. Kaohsiung's rich mountain, sea, river and port scenery and constantly improving cityscape will definitely leave a deep impression on Thai tourists. Before February 25th, there are still two cute yellow ducks in the Love River Bay in Kaohsiung, warmly welcoming tourists from Thailand and all over the world to Kaohsiung for a joyful reunion.

Sarima Chindamat, Director of Taipei Tourism Authority of Thailand, said that after Thailand opened visa-free entry for Taiwanese tourists in November last year, it attracted many Taiwanese people to visit Thailand for tourism. She believes that after AirAsia launches direct flights from Kaohsiung to Bangkok, it will be able to attract more tourists who have not been to Thailand to visit Bangkok for the first time. At the same time, she also welcomes Kaohsiung citizens to explore the beauty of Thailand from the neighboring areas of Bangkok, such as Pattaya, Hua Hin, Thailand's second largest island "Koh Chang", etc. The Thai Songkran Festival is also coming soon, and she welcomes Kaohsiung citizens to experience the excitement of the Songkran Festival in Bangkok, Thailand.
